The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival attracts a plethora of international headline acts every year with performances spread over two weekends. Concerts take place at the Fair Grounds Race Course and other venues around the city.
The music encompasses every style associated with New Orleans and Louisiana and many more besides, with performances taking place across 12 stages.
The extensive line-up ranges from jazz performers like Wynton Marsalis and Roy Haynes to blues musicians including Etta James, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, John Mayall and Robert Cray. Soulful sounds come from the likes of Erykah Badu and Earth, Wind and Fire, while rock fans can get down to the likes of Neil Young, Kings of Leon and Bon Jovi.
Food outlets offer Louisiana specialities from Creole filé gumbo and jambalaya to spicy Cajun roasted duck.
